Born from a North Wales storm. Milled on the forest floor. Built for the studio kitchen.
Bring the iconic TV studio-kitchen aesthetic straight to your home worktop. The Windfall is a chunky, live-edge sycamore prep slab designed for serious home cooks who want an immovable culinary workstation and a statement centerpiece in one.
Featuring wild central burl character, golden grain figure, and substantial single-slab depth, this piece is crafted from native Welsh timber to sit proudly on display as a permanent kitchen feature—ideal for prep, carving roasts, or hosting lavish grazing spreads.
The Forest to Furniture Story
Every curve and swirl in this slab carries a story of raw Welsh weather and local craft. The Windfall was born from a mature sycamore tree in our North Wales woodland that was brought down during a winter gale. Rather than letting the timber go to waste, we reclaimed it entirely on-site under our Stormwood ethos:
Storm-Felled Welsh Timber: Naturally brought down by winter storms in our North Wales woodland.
In-House Alaskan Milling: Cut into thick slabs right on the forest floor using our Alaskan chainsaw mill.
Slow Seasoned: Air-dried and seasoned on-site for two years for structural stability.
Hand-Finished: Carefully hand-planed, sanded through fine extra-fine grits, and sealed with Danish oil to bring out a gorgeous silky sheen and emphasize the timber's shimmering central grain figure.
Because this is the very first piece crafted from the offcuts of that fallen giant, The Windfall is a true one-of-one original piece of Welsh woodwork.
