Confidence in Covid times

Whilst many businesses in the tourism sector have started up recently, because the owners lost their original source of income and could AirBnB their annex or spare rooms, Emlyn's Coppice has been in the works for some time. But development and then the planning process takes time, and it just so happened that we finally pulled all the threads together in the latter part of 2020. But hey, what better time to start a tourism business than in the middle of a national lockdown!! Its becoming a bit of a habit, as I actually started what became a rather successful Pantomime and Theatre company in the middle of the 2008 recession, so we're not afraid of a little challenge, and we won't let the likes of a global pandemic stop us!!

But we are in times where Covid 19 exists and so we must address it for your sakes and ours. Firstly, cleaning. I did my research on this, and reading deeper into government guidelines I'm at a loss to understand what's different!? To me this is just how cleaning is meant to be done.... isn't it? It actually concerns me that maybe some holiday lets AREN'T cleaning in this way already!! I'm sure many are, but it is a worry none the less.

So here's what the guidance says:

Hand contact surfaces should be disinfected. Make a checklist of all the touch points which could include, but is not limited to, the following, all of which would – as a minimum - be disinfected when a guest checks out:

  • Light switches

  • Bedside tables

  • Remote control

  • Taps

  • Flush handles and toilet seats

  • Door handles – inside and out

  • Hair dryer handles

  • Iron and ironing board, trouser press

  • Safe buttons

  • Wardrobe doors

  • Mini bar handle

  • Kettle handle and lid

  • Heater and/or air conditioner controls.

  • Room collateral should be kept to a minimum.

  • Glasses and crockery should be removed and washed in a dishwasher not the room sink. Towels and linens should be washed in accordance with washing instructions

I can promise you, pandemic or not, all the above steps will be completed. Obviously we're a glampsite so we don't tend to supply a trouser press etc (or mini bars so don't get too excited) but you get the point.

Add to this the inside of drawers and cupboards. I don't know about you, but it disgusts me when I open a drawer in a 'holiday let' to find crumbs or worse underneath the cutlery. So each pod will have a minimum of two sets of cutlery and crockery one of which will be removed after each set of guests and replaced with the other. The set taken away will be washed thoroughly in a dishwasher and stored hygienically ready for our next guests, while the drawer/cupboard interiors are cleaned and disinfected.

Furthermore, bedding will be washed at over 60 degrees to ensure hygiene, And soft furnishings will be disinfected. Basically, wherever germs may hide... we're coming for them!!

In all seriousness though. We have to manage this in a cautious manner for everybody's safety, so as well as the cleaning steps above, we are not allowing bookings over Sunday nights to enable a deep clean and pod isolation before the next week's guests. There will also be hand sanitizer available at your pod. We are enabling contact free check in for all guests, but when you do need a human, we ask that you wear a facemask, as will we.

So if you've read this far, well done! I hope it gives you some confidence in booking with us whilst Covid is still ruling our lives.

It's time for an easter egg; If you'd like to book with us, then for the first 10 people who do, we will offer 10% off your stay. Just enter 10for10 in the promo code box on the booking page (see below). This code will be switched off after the first ten people. And despite what you may of heard, most of us here in Wales, Welsh and English alike, can't wait to welcome everybody back to this beautiful country, we just want to do it safely for everyone.

Keep safe everybody, we hope to see you all soon.
